Did You Know Our Sweet Treats Are…?

At Lazy Day, we believe everyone deserves the occasional treat, especially when they’re as joyfully delicious as ours! So, here are a few things you might not know about our cakes, traybakes and biscuits:

Gluten-free – all our treats are made with carefully sourced gluten-free ingredients, so coeliacs and those with food intolerances or allergies can enjoy them with confidence.

🥛 Milk and egg-free – we don’t use dairy or eggs in any of our products, making them perfect for vegans and those with allergies or intolerances.

🌱 Vegan – every bite is 100% plant-based and proudly Vegan Society approved.

🙌 Hand-finished – our entire process is very hands-on on and our bakery team add the finishing touches of each product by hand.

🥜 Made on a nut-free site – our bakery is completely nut-free, and our products are regularly tested for allergens to give you peace of mind.

🏴 Made in Scotland – proudly baked right here in the heart of Scotland, with love and care in every crumb.

🌍 Sustainably sourced – we’re committed to using responsibly sourced ingredients, including locally sourced ingredients where possible.

Allergy-Safe Snacks for Back to School

Back-to-school season means shared lunch tables, class celebrations, and clubs. For many families, finding snacks that are both vegan and allergy-safe is essential, not only for their own child, but so classmates can enjoy them too without worry. This guide explores how to pick school-friendly snacks that align with common allergy rules, while keeping everyday routines simple.

Why Allergy-Safe Vegan Snacks Matter at School

Allergy-safe snacks are free from specific allergens and made with steps to prevent cross-contamination. Cross-contamination occurs when allergens are transferred during manufacturing or handling. All of our products have no risk of cross-contamination.

Vegan snacks contain no milk, eggs, butter, honey, or other animal products. But vegan alone doesn’t mean allergy-safe, as nuts, gluten, or traces of dairy can still be present.

Choosing allergy-safe snacks supports:

  • Inclusive participation: All children can join in without risk.

  • Simplified sharing: One snack type works for multiple dietary needs.

  • Peace of mind: Parents know their choice won’t trigger a reaction.

Quick Guide to Reading Allergen Labels Fast

  • Ingredients in bold: On UK packaging, allergens must appear in bold within the ingredients list.

  • “Free-from” claims: These indicate both ingredient exclusion and process controls that are in place.

  • Facility statements: “Made in a dedicated gluten-free, milk-free, and egg-free facility” shows higher safety controls.

  • Cross-contact warnings: Phrases like “may contain” or “made on shared equipment” signal possible risk.

Tip: Keep snacks in their original packaging so staff can verify labels quickly. Avoid decanting into unlabelled tubs for school sharing.

More Spooky Delights

At Lazy Day, we believe that everyone, whether they have dietary restrictions or not, should be able to enjoy some delicious Halloween treats! Halloween is all about the fun of dressing up, watching spooky movies, and, of course, indulging in delicious sweets. But too often, those with dietary needs find themselves left out of the party. That’s why we’ve created some simple Halloween recipes using our Mini Vic Caterpillars and Belgian Chocolate Cake Bars – which are free from gluten, eggs, and dairy. These recipes are quick and easy to whip up with minimal skill and resources, perfect to share with your friends and family this Halloween.

Bat-erpillar Bites

Ingredients:

  • Lazy Day Mini Vic Caterpillars

  • Orange edible eyes

  • Free from biscuits or paper bat wings

  • Free from chocolate (for melting)

  • Red icing

Instructions: Place your Mini Vic on a plate ready to dress up. Break your free-from biscuit into two halves and use melted chocolate to attach the “bat wings” to each side of the caterpillar. You can switch out the biscuits for paper bat wings to make sure your bat-erpillar bites suit the dietary needs of your guests. Using more melted chocolate, stick on the orange edible eyes to give your bat its spooky face. Finally, draw a fang-tastic smile with the red icing pen, and you’ve got a bat-iful Halloween treat!

Tomb of Treats

Ingredients:

  • Lazy Day Belgian Chocolate Cake Bars

  • White icing or melted free-from white chocolate

  • White edible eyes

Instructions: Lay a Cake Bar flat on a plate. Using white icing or melted free-from white chocolate, create mummy "wraps" across the bar, making sure to cover it evenly. To bring your wrapped-up mummy to life, add some edible eyes on top. For an extra spooky touch, drizzle icing or chocolate in a spiderweb pattern.
