What a start to 2023! We’ve kicked off the year with two big announcements!  As well as the launch of the adorable Mini Vic the Vegan Caterpillar, we are also delighted to now announce that our award-winning Belgian Chocolate Cake Bars (winner of a Free-From Food Award, Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Award, and Scottish Retail Food & Drink Award), and our Salted Caramel Crispies will both be available in Tesco stores from Monday 16th January. 

Following on from a bold new re-brand in May 2022, we are delighted that we are able to share more of our incredibly tasty treats with you as our Lazy Day goodies can now be found in Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Waitrose and Co-op stores across the UK.

Our Belgian Chocolate Cake Bars are the perfect vegan lunch box treat to satisfy your chocolate craving as well as being free-from gluten, milk and egg. Rich chocolate sponge topped with chocolate frosting and covered in delicious Belgian dark chocolate. Each pack contains four individually wrapped bars (120g). The big question is whether to share them or keep them all for yourself.

Our Salted Caramel Crispies are a new take on an old favourite: the crunchy base of sticky rice crispies is topped with a smooth layer of caramel and covered in a generous coating of real dark Belgian chocolate.  All whilst still being gluten-free, milk-free, egg-free and vegan.

Mini Vic the Vegan Caterpillar Cakes

Introducing Mini Vic the Vegan Caterpillar Cakes - the newest addition to Lazy Day's line of indulgent treats! These mini caterpillar cakes are gluten-free, milk and egg-free, and vegan, making them a delicious option for anyone with dietary restrictions.

The Caterpillar Cakes will launch in stores at Co-op from 9th January. Deliciously decadent and sure to become a firm favourite with both children and adults whilst echoing the Lazy Day ethos around inclusivity of indulgent treats for all. Inclusivity is at the heart of what we do at Lazy Day, we truly believe that no one should miss out on the joys of everyday live. Especially children who may feel left out at birthday parties, family events or just simple snacking at home. That's why we're thrilled to introduce this tasty choice that will bring out the inner child in us all.

Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year

Our store is now closed for Christmas. We are still accepting orders but these will not be dispatched until the 4th of January. We understand this may come as a disappointment, but with the current strikes and weather conditions, we don’t want anyone to miss out on a delivery over the festive season.

Oat Avenue Giveaway

We thought this month was the perfect time to team up with the UK’s first ever granola butter, Oat Avenue!

The Granola Butter is a vegan, gluten and nut free spread making it suitable for those with peanut and tree nut allergies, vegans and coeliacs. It’s created by combining gluten-free oats with organic coconut sugar, some cinnamon and a pinch of salt! It can be enjoyed on toast, drizzled on porridge, with fresh fruit or straight out the jar.

What Makes Us Stand Out From the Crowd?

Here at Lazy Day we hand bake our traybakes, cakes and all other tasty treats at our dedicated free-from site. We have our own team dispatching orders in the factory, so when you order from our website, your order is shipped directly from production to your door. We are proud to be an employer in our local community and 43% of our team live in the local area to our factory, with some employees living just a short walk away!

Our factory was purpose-built when we moved to new premises in 2017 so has everything we need to run as efficiently as possible and get our tasty treats to you,  our valued customers. The site is free from gluten, milk, egg and dairy, and all of our products  are suitable for vegans and nut-free too.

The only allergen that we use in our products and handle on site is Soya, however we do have a few products without Soya, these are the Scottish Shortbread, Stem Ginger Oaties and Golden Syrup Oaties. We love hearing feedback from you, and although we’ve grown as a business, we still do a little dance every time we read a review or recommendation – so thank you!

Recently, the team attended the Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards and were delighted to receive the Free From Award for our Chocolate Cake Bars. We are always grateful to have our efforts recognised, and being able to attend this awards ceremony in person meant a lot to the company.

The Excellence Awards help build Scotland’s reputation as a Land of Food and Drink and we are proud to be playing our part in this as a dedicated gluten, milk and egg-free site in Scotland. The mission of Lazy Day is to make great-tasting free-from and vegan treats that mean no-one should miss out on the joys of everyday life: from social occasions, to celebrations, to moments of peaceful indulgence.

Scotland Food & Drink Fortnight

Today marks the start of Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight! As the theme for this year's Fortnight is ‘Stories to Savour’ it’s the perfect time to tell our story.

Dr Sally Beattie and Emer Bustard’s exciting journey began when they met while working together as product developers at Kerry Foods. They always felt they worked well together and even went on to start a charity outside of work!

Fast forward to 2006, when Lazy Day was founded. Back then there was very little choice within the vegan and free-from market which left them increasingly frustrated at the lack of sweet treats available that catered to the free-from dietary needs of their families, so they set themselves the goal of creating a range of delicious and trusted free-from treats, with no compromise when it came to taste. They both have first-hand experience with the challenges and complexities that restricted diets bring to busy family life. Sally, along with other members of her family, has a number of food intolerances herself, including ones to dairy and gluten. Emer is a coeliac and also has a young daughter with a food allergy.  

Since launching in 2006, Lazy Day has achieved many memorable milestones. One of the company’s first big milestones was being stocked in Waitrose in 2008, the excitement that Sally and Emer felt when seeing their product on shelf for the first time in a well-known retailer continues today when Lazy Day products are seen on shelf in any store! In 2019, the company went on to win Scotland Food & Drink Business of the Year award. This was a massive achievement, to have the work of the whole team recognised meant a lot to everyone.

Lazy Day has already achieved so much so far in its journey and it’s exciting to see what the future will hold!

Salted Caramel Crispies Reveal!

It’s time to introduce our Salted Caramel Crispies! While we’ve been revealing all of our new branding and exciting new packaging designs, we’ve also been working in the background to create some tasty new treats for you to enjoy.

The Salted Caramel Crispies are a new take on an old favourite. With a crunchy base of sticky rice crispies topped with a smooth layer of caramel and covered in a generous coating of Belgian dark chocolate you won’t want to miss out on trying these!

This delicious treat can now be found on our online website and will be launching soon in Waitrose, Ocado and Booths.
